Free Friday: What? It's just a little fire?!
When I was a kid, I was a "fire bug." I loved matches, especially the wooden ones. We had boxes of them EVERYWHERE. I don't really know why they intrigued me, maybe it was the look and feel? Maybe it was the smell after you struck the match, or even farther down the Freudian Path, it was the transformation of the match and anything it touched? I hear people say that rebels make the best cops and kids who play with matches make the best firefighters. Again, I don't know, those

Giving Notice
This one was born over a dinner I had with my friend, Nate. He was trying to ask me if the shadows of the characters, or outlines of them, would hold up enough for anyone to recognize them. I did some research on the idea and found out that it was actually a thing. Anyway, after hearing Nate bring it up this was the first thing that came to mind, the four Brothers sitting on a dune discussing food. Well, to be very honest, the first idea was that one of them farted. I think t

Right and Wrong
Hydro is making a pretty powerful statement here and while I agree with him whole heartedly, I can't help but giggle with the little crab standing behind him. I guess he must be the bouncer. Have a great day! To learn more about Hydro click here, to see more work with Hydro in them click here.

You know when I notice that I have gone too far? Juuust right after that LAST step. Mind your footing kids! Have a great day! BurnThe Ships!
Sometimes you just need to turn "a corner" and not look back. I have a favorite song that played on the Christian Billboards called, "Burn the Ships." It was written by a group called "For King & Country." It is a quieter song that deals with making decisions in your life on a grand scale and then not going back on them. I have done that my whole life, it is something my father taught me, "Make a decision, stick to it, and never look back." I have tried to do this in everythi

Bubble! Bubble!
Do you realize how much time and noise a kid on the bank of a lake with a drinking straw can waste when he's bored ... countless hours!! My Mom was always afraid I was going to hurt myself with the straw, I don't think she realized how much actual lake water I took in because of poor timing, if she did, she would have been more concerned about lake water. I DARE you today, blow bubbles in your drinks! Don't tell anyone why, just watch the look on their faces!! Enjoy your stra

Blow Baby Blow!
Looks like Derec has got a new toy for the beach. I think it's a reference to the red plastic boat I had as a kid, I think it was a hand-me-down from one of my sister's beach toys. Well, it made an impression at least! I am afraid when they used it, it was for a leisurely day on 'the lake' and mine was more target practice for rock bombs. Oh well. May all your boats float today! Have a great day! To learn more about Derec click here, to see more work with Derec in it click he

Free Friday: Compassion
Iggy is off building his sand castles again! This time he's got an audience. Those are the best kind! I loved making those things as a kid and then, whatever you found on the beach was fair game to use as decoration. All those poor snails, crawfish and bugs, they NEVER held their assigned posts especially after baking in the sun after three hours! Tell me about a sandcastle you built. Moats, drawbridges, etc.; the more detail, the better! Let your sandcastles reach the heaven

Death to ALL lists!!
The boys are back to playing frisbee again. I used to love this activity as a kid. In fact, this red one is just like the one I had up at the cabin as a kid. Unfortunately, it spent more time on the ground than it did in the air. Do you realize how fast a kid has to run to play catch with themselves?!? Sadly, I do. I never did catch it. Tell me about the greatest game of catch you played. Was it with someone special? In a special place? How about WHAT you played catch with? L

Where you put your time
The Elemental Brothers are still at it. You ever have somebody walk right through you because they saw you but it never even registered to them? How do you deal with it? Let it go? Bring it to their attention? Aggressively? Let me know in the comments below. Today I hope you see people. Not just for the physical space they hold but for who they REALLY are. Their experiences, their strengths, etc. They deserve that, just like you do. Have a great day! To learn more about Cynde

Free Friday: Courage
Somedays it feels like this. My friend Hydro here, even at The Beach, Hydro doesn't get any respect and it can feel like that a lot. I just know that when things like this happen to me, I like to find a nice quiet place to recoup, readjust and then, get back at it again. There are MANY MORE beachballs out there ...go find them! Permission to ...oh forget it!
This is a special cartoon. Not only does it introduce the last of the four Elemental Brothers, "Iggy," this is the first time that I have shown one of the Elemental Brothers NOT in their human form and it took me a while to answer some questions on what and how it looks. As far as "flying" goes, I prefer to run my life like that of Pete Mitchell, or "Maverick," in the Top Gun movies. Sometimes you just gotta buzz the tower! Have a great day!
