Free Friday Thursday: Guest Blog - Happy Birthday Sketch!

Free Friday: Still Here

A few weeks ago I was forced with a decision that I wished I would never have to make. I was forced to...

Free Friday: Where Is Your Attention?

Posted by By Sketch, February 19, 2025 One morning I came out to go to work and after trying to be quiet in the house I was getting my coat and a small voice came from the back bedroom; “I found your sketchbook on the floor in the hallway last night before going to bed, I left it on the counter for you, don’t forget it.” I looked up from putting my shoes on and saw the tiny book in the leather case sitting on the corner of the counter as if she had put it specifically in my p

Update: Ear Infections, thats what I'm dealing with. Thank you Shannon for taking care of me. I am going to repost an old blog of mine, since my other one is shutting down in a couple of days, I managed to save some of my posts from it and I'll repost them while I am on the mend. Enjoy them and thank you for following my work. Posted byBy Sketch March 25, 2024 I normally try to keep these articles light-hearted. This one, not so much, but hang with me until the end. When I w

We are back to my little childhood pool. The name "Kid-E"on the side just makes me laugh every time I look at it. When I would see that big blue lump of plastic getting blown up in the backyard, I knew it was gonna be a successful day. Success is a pretty complicated word. Usually we relate such verbiage with many actions or a LOT of planning: a successful recovery, a successful achievement or a successful change. Success is seen as something that takes many steps, advances,

Holy flowers Batman! I love doing work like this; it is constructive, relaxing, helps me focus and, in return, I feel better about myself. If I remember correctly, I was at work when I did this (I actually did this one almost 3 months ago!). For some, doing a repetitive subject like this is pretty tiring, it would wear them out. For me though, it is something similar to taking a knife to a strop. My thoughts become almost "sharper," my mind wanders into different areas, prett

When I was a kid, I was a "fire bug." I loved matches, especially the wooden ones. We had boxes of them EVERYWHERE. I don't really know why they intrigued me, maybe it was the look and feel? Maybe it was the smell after you struck the match, or even farther down the Freudian Path, it was the transformation of the match and anything it touched? I hear people say that rebels make the best cops and kids who play with matches make the best firefighters. Again, I don't know, those

Iggy is off building his sand castles again! This time he's got an audience. Those are the best kind! I loved making those things as a kid and then, whatever you found on the beach was fair game to use as decoration. All those poor snails, crawfish and bugs, they NEVER held their assigned posts especially after baking in the sun after three hours! Tell me about a sandcastle you built. Moats, drawbridges, etc.; the more detail, the better! Let your sandcastles reach the heaven

Somedays it feels like this. My friend Hydro here, even at The Beach, Hydro doesn't get any respect and it can feel like that a lot. I just know that when things like this happen to me, I like to find a nice quiet place to recoup, readjust and then, get back at it again. There are MANY MORE beachballs out there ...go find them! May YOU have a better day! Have a great day! To learn more about Hydro click here, to see more work with Hydro in it click here.
